I hit the wall today…hasn't happened since Chicago:( If David would have had his phone (he was golfing) I would have called him to pick me up. It was my first 20 miler and by mile 14 I was feeling weak and totally exhausted. I walked most of that mile and then alternated between walking and running home. I really miss running with all of you! I'm never doing another marathon…or even half marathon. Hope you all have a better long run this weekend.
Angie and me ran 18 and Jeri ran 20 Friday morning. It was cold and windy when we started and 39 when. We finished. By mile 15 I was getting that funny feeling where you are not thinking clearly. It reminded me why I don't do marathon's.
Jean, I think we are all at that point in our training where it is no fun. so many miles, and not much of a break if you're doing it right. I know running all those miles in solitude would only make it worse for me. just remember each run done, puts you closer to running with us. Cindy and I just have our 2 20 milers left, the ones in between will seem easy.. looking forward to Spring ..
Jean, It's hard to train alone with no one to complain to or share breakfast with at the end. Hang in there. If this was your first 20 that means only 2 left. Did any of us ever think we would say a 13 mile run was easy! It has been a hard winter to train. Today I ran and then went directly to cross fit just so I didn't have to run in the cold dark. Just remember we are going to Boston for the ambiance and the experience, not any specific time. It is an incredible year to run Boston. You can do it!
It's that time again, except that 13 miles doesn't seem so long. I have to be in Quincy by noon so it doesn't matter to me where we run...Hannibal or Quincy. Who all will be running....Cheryl? Post or text ideas. Also I have an idea for a flat 20 mile run that is NOT River Road in Quincy. I'll tell you more on Saturday. Looks like we might have some snow or rain. Yuck. Enough already. I'll check back tomorrow.
I've worked out a few routes in Quincy starting from IVH, Madison Park or Washington Park. All involve some hills. Cheryl, one goes by your house at about 9 miles if you catch a ride to the start and want to cut it short. Any of the others you could head back early. Just some ideas. Any of these sound of interest? 7:15 start? Jeri
7 or 730? I have found one of our past routes that is12 mi and would b easy to add a mile along route. Meet at 5th & Maine or hy bee on 12th and go to kidders lane to 24th Harrison to 20th locust/maple to 12th locust thrum veterans home to 5 th street back to Maine. Would need to add mile somewhere. NIEDERS lane damnable spellcheck. Or if someone has another suggestion fine w me
That sounds fine with me Cindy. Not sure I understand it all but sure I could figure it out. How about 7:15 at HyVee on Harrison. Heartland is meeting for their official photo at Washington Park at 7 so if we meet there we will be in the middle of that (not that I am anti social). Sound ok everyone else?
Jeri/Cheryl- I can give you a ride Cheryl and then we could leave a cooler there just in case anyone needed water or kleenex. 7:15 start sounds good to me. I can bring cooler.
No my route not go by cheryls. When I posted I did not have your post yet do if we do your flute that goes by Cheryl I can leave a cooler and give Cheryl a ride to where we meet. That would probably be less confusing??
Ok...meet at Madison Park at 7:15. We will run a route that takes us by Cheryl's in case we need to stop. The route will take us out S. 24th to Ghost Hollow Rd. to Deer Ridge Rd. to 48th to Maine and back to the park. We will have to add about .5 somewhere in there. I'll bring the map. See you in the morning. Cheryl and Angie, you aren't commenting on this! Hope it is ok with you.

Yes, I'm planning to run tomorrow. Not sure about 13 but will see how it goes. I've got family coming in so won't be able to hang out long afterwards.
