Looks like BTG is also starting at 8 tomorrow. Doug's route goes out State to 54th St, over to Columbus Road to College to 16th to Maine and back to Washington Park. BTG goes back over to 24th St, out to Ghost Hollow Road and back. I'm okay with either route.
I'm confused...when did Dougs route start changing from BTG? I always thought he just added to theirs for more mileage? Are they both 11 miles? I'm going to suck at either, ran 8 last Saturday, haven't ran since. What the heck is my problem?? Someone post and let me know... Angie (the route, not my problem, Haha!)
Yes, they are both 11. I think it was too hard for Doug to design a route in combination with the BTG route so he just started his routes from Washington Perk for the 6 am crew and anyone training for Illinois. His group will be done with their 11 before we even get started. We'll be running by ourselves using Doug's route and with the BTG group on the other. Which would you prefer Cindy?
I am fine with BTG because I haven't seen Doug's but if it goes out state street there is a good portion that does not have a curb -from about 24th to 48th. It was a little scary last week running along 48th between Harrison and Maine with the traffic. Angie-my spinclasses were great this week but my running was terrible. Don't know what the problem was and now I have an issue with my other leg that just seemed to develop late today. I wish I could just run without these chronic issues with hamstrings. See ya all tomorrow.
I'm even game for going up the night before if anyone would rather do that if we could find rooms-check out www.runabe.com to check out the medal!!! I would just be considering this next weeks training run and wouldn't be trying to break any records-(obviously!!!)Post or text soon so we can get registered!! Angie
I am game for the Springfield run, but would prefer not to stay the night before. Still have a lot of work unpacking and need every minute. I too will not break any records. I haven't ran in a week and the most i have ran lately was 10 miles. We are officially moved in and spent our first night at the house. I am thrilled and thought this day would never come.
Oh, do I start training for real now, or is it time to taper??Haha!! I decided in between- I did 3 this morning and I think I will try 5 tomorrow and then not run until Saturday, we will see how that works (or doesn't, haha) for me. Angie
Waiting to see if Roger's brother & kids are coming in this weekend first. If they do, it will be a no go. Would really like to run it. will get back to you Angie & Karen. So glad to see you signed up for Illinois Cindy!
So sorry I can't do the Abe Lincoln run - the medals look really cool. Perhaps next year. Cindy, glad you signed up for the Illinois. We will all have to decide when we want to head over there - sometime that Friday. Doug said the pasta feed wasn't too good last year, and I don't think he made any other reservations. Any ideas? Karen, congrats on the move. Hope we can catch up next weekend. Jean
House guests coming in on Friday so I won't be doing the half in Spfld. Will be able to run here in Qcy though. We'll see what Doug has planned for his 12 as BTG is doing speed work.
I would probably prefer to start at 7 with it being Easter weekend. And with me being slower I had debated starting earlier than you and Cheryl so I wouldn't have to keep anyone waiting. But if we started at 7 there still be some of the 20 miler out on the route. I think we do 12 this week.
I have 20 and want to do hills so will start 5:30 or 6 from home. I have to work on a paper when I get done...busy weekend so have to grab study time when I can. Can't wait to see Abe's medal. I'll try to run with everyone next week. Maybe it's time to discuss plans for Illinois. Have good runs everyone. Jeri
Its 4am and I'm getting ready to go get Karen. Who's crazy idea was this?! We are hoping not to embarrass ourselves and to be able to finish at least as good as our first BTG. 2:25 We deserve serious teasing if we dont!! (Or maybe that should be serious training!!haha!!) Angie

Do we want to start at 8 again and do Doug's route? I didn't realize we were going to 13 this training session! Jean

We could start at 7 and do Doug's route - that way we would see people along the way. Any other ideas?
