Olympics Week #2

9 Comments:

  • Excerpt from book from book club that I'm not part of, (haha), but am reading that jumped out at me. Kinda long...sorry.
I was struck with the realization that life is not unlike our run had been. Each of us travels through periods of light and dark, times when our path seems clear and times when we struggle to see just a few feet ahead. We find ourselves in the country so to speak. Darkness consumes the land, and we question whether there is a path at all. There are no streetlights. There is no moon. And before us looms the unforeseen threat of an unfortunately placed yield sign. Blind to the road before us, we feel abandoned. Confused. Betrayed, even. In those times our hearts stumble as much as our bodies do, and our resolve is pained with faltering. We don't understand where the light has gone, and it is all we can do not to give up.
Life is rarely clear cut. Our vision is often handicapped. The path may be dark. It may be long. We hope our eyes adjust. We know they may not. Sometimes only in the illuminating clarity of hindsight do we see the way we have taken. But we hope. Ever reaching deeper, ever looking ahead, squinting, straining, but
ultimately seeing just enough of the road to take one more small step, we continue on.

  • Only a runner would get that huh?! Speaks to life in so many different ways. Pounding the streets and getting my runs in. Ready to knockout 14. Saturday. Angie

  • I too thought about posting the above for everyone in our group. Read it while in Colorado. Spent the day at the Denver Zoo and seemed like every daycare in the metro area was there and noticed one should be careful about drinking the water as lots of pregnant women. It is a great zoo if you are ever in Denver. Our family has a thing about visiting zoos when we are on vacation and had taken the kids there when they were little. A shout out to Cheryl who was on facebook doing crossfit. Way to go. I need to get more serious about this exercising.

  • Cheryl, have you been holding out on us? Hope you're not dropping us for another bunch of groupies! I know they couldn't be as much fun as "the sole sisters"!
I plan on being there tomorrow for the 6 am run. Hope to see you all - Cindy, are you back?

  • Was this from the Lola Papers or have you moved on to another book? I'm also trying to read the books from the book club.

Have to be in Spfld tomorrow by 10 so will probably just get my short run in around my house. My goal is still to run the half in Indy. I am trying out Crossfit and have only been at it a week so we are still in the learning stage. Taking part in their 1st official class down at 723 S. 8th.

Just from what I'm picking up here, Angie, I'm guessing you mom has had a difficult diagnosis. Been thinking about you . . .

  • The philosphical sole sisters...love it. And Crossfit; what is that? Sounds like real exercise! Here's to 14 in 60...may 50...degree weather. We won't know how to act. See everyone in the morning. Jeri
