Workin' 9 to 5 . . .

Workin' 9 to 5, what a way to make a livin'
Barely gettin' by, it's all takin' and no givin'
They just use your mind and they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it

  • Looking forward to dinner and a show. It has been a very hectic week. Anyone else enjoying their runs this week. Once again Tuesday was a struggle for me but got up earlier today and it was better. Goin to try to get up even earlier tomorrow morning and get as much done as I can before the sun gets too high in the sky. No real shade out here. We are headed to Colorado this weekend to get the dog. Airlines do not recommend flying for pets that go into the cargo bay due to the hot temperatures. We are leaving on saturday and then driving back on Monday.

  • Just an update on my sister in law. She went back into hospital and while attempting a procedure earlier today she had a cardiac arrest and was resuscitated. She is not breathing on her own but is able to reach out to hold your hand and squeeze it and nod her head to communicate. They are going to try to wean her off the vent tomorrow but her condition is grave and most likely days at best even though the doctor did not think she would be able to respond like she is. Needless to say we are very torn about going to Colorado tomorrow but may go and turn around and come back Sunday afternoon. There was an issue related to "faith" discussed between some family members and the doctors. I don't think it went too well.

  • Felt it would be easier to provide update here than trying to type on my phone. I stayed with my sister in law, Debbie, friday evening from 5 pm till 9 pm so her husband could spend time with her family. Debbie was restless and in Hospice we call it terminal restlessness. She was on the call light alot and finally was able to work with staff on me taking care of some things that did not require a nurse or tech to do. Awesome staff on CVU at Blessing. Many are very young but very knowledgeable and have alot of patience. She was needing to use the bipap (forcing air in to help her breathe) at times but really didn't like it. things continued to decline on Saturday and when kent and I arrived it was a struggle to keep blood pressure and oxygen levels up and could only be off the bipap briefly. After a rough night on Sunday morning she told her husband and brother she was ready to let go. They called us and a close friend of hers to come to the hospital. The dr came in to confirm plan of comfort measures and to remove the bipap which was no longer able to keep her oxygen level above 79%. Within minutes of removing the bipap she died peacefully. Thank you all for your support during this time. It really is important to have girlfriends and yesterday was a good diversion to have this weekend.

  • Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear about her passing. I'm sure your knowledge about hospice and dying was so helpful. She was lucky to have such a caring family close at hand. I guess I was assuming that she was your brother's wife, but now I'm thinking she was Kent's brother's wife? You are so right, girlfriends really make times like this a little more bearable. I know I feel lucky to have all of you in my life. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

  • Sorry to miss the St. Jude runners tomorrow. We will be out of town this weekend. Cheer them on for me!

  • We are leaving for Jess' tomorrow and will be gone until Patch day which is Sunday and time to change my Mom's pain patch! I am not sure what time we are leaving. We want to get away a little early and if we succeed, I'll miss the St. Jude runners. But I am thinking of you Karen and Angie and the rest of the runners who make this worthwhile trek. Maybe someday... All of this means, of course, that I won't be running here this weekend. So I look forward to running with whoever is around next weekend. I got in touch with my sister about the bag she made for me. She used 12 bib numbers for the front, 2 for the flap, and 1 race blanket for the back and sides. Her price for a bag the size of mine....$200. If you are interested I will give you her email if you are interested. Angie, thanks for organizing last Saturday's run. It was a hoot. How's the swimming been? See everyone soon. Jeri

  • I saw Nancy Ogle this week and she said she'd like to start running again. I'm not sure if I'll be there yet since Cole may spend the night. But I told her to call you, Cindy, to see if anyone is running and what time. I'll post tomorrow if I can join you.

  • I am planning on running at 6 am with Heartland group. If anyone has route please forward to me. I have sent both Corey and Doug email asking to add me to the list. I am hoping to run 8. I think Angie will still be out of town and Cheryl is going to the State Fair. One of her sons is competing in crossfit there. I need to focus on running routinely so I can run half marathon in October at Nauvoo.

Jeri - you should watch some of the Masters events that were at the Crossfit Games back in July. Lots of local competitions. I can see this in your future!

Catch you guys next week. Enjoy the weekend!
