18 Comments:

  • Happy to finally have sunshine and warm weather, but hoping its only about 40 and no wind on Saturday in Champaign! Go Angie!

  • I ditto Jean. Angie, you go girl. Run your own race and enjoy the journey. Watch for the statue in the praire grass area! We will all be with you in spirit and waiting for the finish line pics and all the stories. I know the plans for the rest of us on Saturday were somewhere between turkeys and other things! I am running 20 miles just in case someone would like to join me! JEri

  • Enjoy the run and take in the sights. Hope the students are out like last year. I think you got your mojo back cause I have felt like a slug for the last 24 hours. Struggled through my run last night and am realizing my allergies are starting to kick my butt. Stopped at Walgreens and picked up claritan and need to start taking at least the 12 hour kind every day. Had not been taking it much but things are starting to bloom. Good luck and is Karen doing the St Jude. I saw her name on a list.

  • I am excited and ready to see if in fact my mojo decides to join me in this race. (notice: I said race, not run....hmmmm, hope I still have that feeling come Saturday morning. Maybe it's the carbs talking right now, since I just consumed a large chili cheese tot from Sonic-please God, WTF is my problem?! and I wonder why I'm a philly? nothing like a large order of tots loaded with cheese and chili at 10;30 at nite to make one feel like maybe they should think about watching what they eat...starting tomorrow;) Anyway, I'm feeling pretty positive about this whole thing, bottom line is, as Jeri (oh sage one) said on Sunday, when it comes to races, we are all trying to run our fastest really, and looking at our watches really does no good, other than freak you out thinking, you should either be running faster (me all the time now), or, on the off hand chance that I'm actually doing ok, I better slow down (like with Jeri). So, I'm not even taking my watch. Ultimately I will be doing what I can do anyway, probably will be doing better without my watch to freak me out, who knows. All I know is that I don't seem to be hating running quite as much right now, and for that I'm grateful. I plan to be smiling, and enjoying myself Saturday morning- I hope that is how it turns out, I guess the finish line photo will be the tell all. Thanks for all the encouragement these last several months-I don't know what people do who don't have good friends pushing them along. P.s. just for an FYI...That 81 year old mans pace for the marathon was a 8.01...bastard.

  • Jeri and I are meeting at 8:30 at Madison Park for 8 if anyone wants to join us. She's doing 12 first...what an over achiever:)

  • I am going to see Dan at QCT tomorrow so may not get on the blog. I am also going to STL early Sat. to get new shoes (!) before I go to the Fox. My plan is to do a short run at home and my long run (12) on Sunday. If anyone wants to join me for all or part on Sunday morning I would welcome the company. I'll check back...just in case. Happy running. I hope it is not in the rain! Jeri

  • We're out of town so I'll have to miss tomorrow. Have a carmel roll for me:)

  • How about meeting at Java Jive at 8 for 8 - 10? Angie will make sure caramel rolls will be waiting when we finish. I'll run into Hannibal to get in 10 before we meet. We hope Karen will join for a cool down walk and of course a roll.

  • 8 at Java Jive sounds good. I'll probably head back to JJ early to complete 6 or so and wait for you. Cindy & Jean, I can drive if you pick a spot and meeting time.

  • I want a caramel roll, so I will put on my walking shoes tomorrow and join you at the finish. I get out of breath easily these days, but would like to get some form of exercise! What time do you think I should be in Hannibal in morning?

  • Jeri-have a good time in New York. Went for a short run after my yoga class this morning in south park and it was humid. Hoping an unexpected cold front for the BTG runners tomorrow but doesn't sound likely. Have fun if any of you go down on North Bottom Boring Road and help to make it less boring for the runners. We are leaving shortly to head to Columbia. Angie-if you want to run on Sunday sent me a text with time and location and distance. Karen hope to catch up with you before your surgery. Will you be working any this week in Pittsfield?

  • Big hugs to everyone for the card and gift card! I can't wait to buy new shoes and run again! I had a blast Saturday doing the water station and am so glad I wasn't running! I will miss you all while I am recovering, but will hopefully be able to join you for breakfast soon. Can't drive for two weeks. I love my sole sisters and appreciate all the support you have given me. Talk to you soon.
