  • Karen-Good luck on opening day tomorrow-hope you get your deer!!! If not, hope your weekend ends up fun and not too cold and/or wet!! To the rest of the running gang, something has come up and we are going to be taking a quick trip out of town, trying to leave by noon on Saturday, so I won't be able to run with you all-maybe I will catch some of you on Thanksgiving day for the turkey trot-(is anyone doing it, I haven't decided-I'm cooking so it might be too much), or next Saturday early for an "easy" (haha) 8 or 10. Angie

  • We're going to miss you, Karen and Angie. How about the rest of you? I was thinking 7:30 at Madison Park. I would like to do 8 miles..

  • I'm doing the Holiday Gift Show with Greta and Hayden at 8. Meeting Ben in Pittsfield at noon to pick up the boys for an overnighter. Hope to catch up with you again soon.

Angie - sorry I missed your open house. I had planned to come straight from my crossfit class. Pulled in front of your place and could see everyone dolled up and decided I wasn't dressed up enough to come in. Jean brought me the shirt and it fits. Let me know what I owe you

  • Karen, The weekend weather sounds beautiful but will it be too warm for successful hunting? We will look for pictures of you and your buck, or doe, or whatever it is you are hunting for. I was swamped with an assigment so headed straight home after working out on Monday. Sorry I missed the open house Angie. I plan to run Saturday and not at home...to many hunters! I will plan on 7:30 at Madison park. Will miss Angie and Cheryl too. I don't plan to do the Turkey run. I plan to get a quick run in at home before writing a paper and hosting (but not cooking) Josh and family! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone I don't see in the morning.

  • Jean and Jeri-I will meet you at Madison Park but probably will run less than 8 that way I can go at my own pace. Trying to keep up with the Boston girls will result in me being baked. Just heard a gunshot in our neighborhood. Karen-Kent got a buck early this am at our property near Kellerville. Hope you had a happy hunting day. Angie-thanks for the invite to open house-food was great. Cheryl-missin you -maybe we should try for an evening run?? I went to South Park after work last night and didn't get there till almost 5 pm -needless to say not many people in the park so I did 2 times around faster than I am used to doing.

  • Hunting has not been successful yet! The weather is nice and not too bad for hunting, though I believe the colder the better. I would rather be running this weekend than hunting. Didn't see anything yesterday morning but saw a lot of does in the evening. At this point holding out for big buck! Have a great Thanksgiving everyone and be safe!

  • Happy Thanksgiving. I am so grateful for my sole sisters even though two of them came close to going over the cliff-that would be Thelma and Louise. I am sure there is a good Lucy and Ethel Thanksgiving show but I am at a loss to remember it. The past year has had it ups and downs and it is hard to believe a year ago I was moving into an unfinished house. I certainly have alot to be thankful for but especially the support of our running group. Will be missing the Turkey Run due to cooking responsibilities but hope to resume it next year-I always enjoyed it. May you all have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving.

  • Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We had the family over and lots of food! I also am thankful for my sole sisters. I really look forward to my Saturday mornings with all of you - and not just for the running!
Is anyone interested in running tomorrow? I would like to do 8 miles. Angie said she wanted to run less so maybe we could have a graduated start. Like those doing 8 meet at 7:30 and those doing less meet at 8:00 and we all finish around 9:00. What do you all think? Of course, that's all dependent on Angie and Karen not doing another marathon this weekend!

  • I am planning on running in the morning...I look forward all week to Saturday runs and breakfast after. 8 is good for me. I have been studying my butt off for 2 days so I don't have to study while Violet is here thi weekend. My brain is fried. I did take a break for some eye candy...Skyfall! I'll check back in to see where and when to meet. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving counting blessings and not calories. Jeri

  • What about meeting at Java Jive for a run down River Road a ways and back through River Park and before a caramel roll? Jeri

By Blogger Jeri, At November 23, 2012 at 8:00 PM

  • I am game for 8 miles, though i will probably just run as many as Angie wants to do. I can't keep up with you two! I am good with Java jive. Angie, if you are still running tomorrow, post a time you want to meet!

By Anonymous Karen, At November 23, 2012 at 8:53 PM

  • Angie and I are going to run 8 miles, so we will be at Java jive at 7:30 am unless we hear otherwise! See everyone tomorrow.

  • Great, see you tomorrow. Jean...Cheryl...Cindy?

By Blogger Jeri, At November 23, 2012 at 9:24 PM

  • As Jeri already knows my mother had emergency surgery today to have her appendix removed so it has been a stressful day. Luckily my sister who is from Chicago area had not left so she and my brother in law were a great help especially with my Dad who is still recovering from his fractured pelvis but doing much better. Tyler is going back to Columbia and has requested Mom make breakfast in the morning so I am going to pass on running tomorrow.

By Anonymous cindy lou who, At November 23, 2012 at 9:27 PM

  • Cindy, sounds like a stressful week. With everything your parents have had going on, now an appendix surgery? Glad your sister is here to help.
I will meet you all at Java Jive at 7:30. Cheryl, if you are going, text me.

  • Sorry to hear about your mom's surgery Cindy. Our Thanksgiving was bittersweet as my Truebe mother-in-law passed away in Spfld about 9 am yesterday. We were able to be with all of her family for Thanksgiving dinner anyway as it was already being prepared. First time in many years that we had all been together on Thanksgiving as two of the siblings live on the West Coast. Hosting Roger's family meal tomorrow so I'll be busy cooking. I haven't run since Indy and am anxioux to get back at it.

  • Cheryl-So sorry for your loss. I thought I saw on Facebook this evening some condolences to Greta and wondered if it was your mother in law. Kent's Dad died a few days before Thanksgiving so it is always a sad time for our family. Two of my sisters who live in Quincy are out of town so I was glad my sister decided to stay and help out today. Both of my parents really struggle emotionally now when one of them is sick and need alot of encouragement. On a somewhat lighter note yesterday we were at kent's brothers house and his wife has breast cancer and having some health issues right now and both of her parents are frail and things were just a bit stressful and my sister in law said I feel like I am living the movie Christmas vacation and it time for me to say the Pledge allegiance. It brought a smile to our faces when someone who is facing a serious illness and can still see the humor in trying to maintain a tradition despite the obvious obstacles in doing so. Hope to get back to running more routinely-hating the short days and darkness.

  • Cindy, sorry to hear about your mom's surgery, hope everything settles down for you. Cheryl, so sorry to hear about your mother-in-laws passing. I'm glad you got to spend some time with her on the way to/from Indy. Enjoy your Thanksgiving with Rogers family! Hope to see the both of you next Saturday-Angie

  • Cindy - that is so sweet about how your parents struggle when one or the other is sick. We were lucky in that my brother-in-law who lives in Oregon is retired and came home to take care of his mother. He along with this wife have been here for about 3 weeks. They did have hospice the last 2 weeks and they were very appreciative of their help.

Very thankful for all of my running buddies. Just need to get out there and run with you!

  • Cheryl, I am sorry to hear of your loss and glad that family is around for you and each other. Cindy, hope your Mom's return home is as uneventful as possible. Enjoy your time with Tyler...nothing like breakfast cooked by Mom. Hope we can all run together - and have b'fast together- next week. Jeri

  • Cheryl, I'm sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. I know it wasn't unexpected, but that doesn't make it any easier. It's good that you got to spend some time with her earlier this month.
Cindy, hope things are going ok with your parents.

  • My mom went home this afternoon but she is an unhappy camper. It has been an exhausting weekend and did not get anything done that I was hoping to get done. Oh well. On a positive note my dad seems to be doing much better. We made sure he was well fed as we are not sure how well my parents were eating prior to my mother's hospitalization. It is a concern. Hoping this week goes better.

  • Cheryl -sorry for your loss.

Cindy-sounds like you have been busy! Hope things slow down for you.

I'm grateful my Thanksgiving was boring.

  • Can anyone run early on Saturday? I know Angie is doing the Jingle Bell Run, but I need to be done before that. Someone mentioned running early and then doing that one.
    J

By Anonymous Anonymous, At November 29, 2012 at 10:24 PM

  • I prefer to run early (not 6 am early) on Saturday as well so I am all in (aren't I cool). I'll run whatever distance and wherever. Jeri

By Blogger Jeri, At November 29, 2012 at 10:42 PM

  • How about 7:15 at Vets Home and run 8. We could have coffee after and those of you doing the Jingle Bell run could still make it to that. Is that too early for those of you doing the Jingle Bell?

By Anonymous Anonymous, At November 30, 2012 at 6:15 PM

  • That works for me. I'll check again before I go to bed to see if there are any changes. Jeri

By Blogger Jeri, At November 30, 2012 at 6:17 PM

  • Are there even any takers for the Ring a bell run ? does that sound like I'm begging? I know I won't run 8 AND 3 later. that would be like I was training for something. I might be good for 6. Will check blog and figure it out. Angie

By Anonymous Anonymous, At November 30, 2012 at 6:56 PM

  • So sorry Angie-didn't see your post when I texted you. I should get my sorry butt there tomorrow but had considered it but then was at the hospital and just could not make a committment to doing it. My mom went back in this morning and stayed with her until they ran tests and told us she was fine but would keep her for observation. Complaining of chest pain but heart scan was fine. Went to work and around 4:30 got a call from one of my sisters saying the heart doctors had been in to see her and thought the artery that they had not been able to stent but only balloon September had blocked again. DR.E had told us then it was too dangerous to stent so he opened it doing the balloon procedure but likely would block again and it had. So the heart doctors (a different one) thought they should give it a try again despite the risks and my mother wanted them to try. Afterwards came in and said had to agree with DR. E could not stent and when they tried to do the balloon procedure again to open it up the artery closed resulting in a heart attack but were told it was inevitable without a stent. Not clear about damage to heart etc. but definately not a candidate for open heart surgery. My mom seemed to be doing ok but not sure anyone told her it was unsuccessful but usually somewhat awake during procedure but she has been forgetful and seems to be having increased difficulty with her hearing. I had taken my parents supper on Thursday night as it was their 65th wedding anniversary-will have to tell you about it sometime-wedded bliss was not the mood that night. Something we all have to look forward to. So my mom is in the hospital till Monday and doctors said they will give us a better explanation of where we go from here with my mom. Hope the rest of the weekend is uneventful.

  • Goodness Cindy, don't be sorry!! If I were you, I would be home in bed with a bottle of wine. I find myself increasingly wanting to do that myself everytime I go out to attempt holiday shopping-not so freaking cheery this year. So Karen is staying home to bake with her co-workers and there is no point in me showing up to run early with you guys (Jean and Jeri), you run too fast and too far!! for me, so I would be running on my own anyway, therefor, I will just sleep in, and do a lazy 3 at 10 am all in the name of a good cause...maybe cause I didn't run this week, or cause I'm a lazy ass, or cause I want to sleep in, or cause I just don't want to run too far tomorrow. You pick the reason!!! In anycase, drink some coffee or tea for me, but be sure to eat something delicious, that's much more important. I feel very much like a bear preparing for winter right now, (do not shoot me the next time you see me Karen) Eat more, and move to the back of the cave. Time to sleep, no need to move around.....hopefully my lazy butt will be more motivated next week. Off to go make a bloody mary, (I will drink one for you too Cindy) Cheers-Angie

  • Cheryl, haven't heard from you...maybe I'll see you at the run...angie

By Anonymous Anonymous, At November 30, 2012 at 9:02 PM

  • Cindy, you certainly have had an eventful couple of weeks. I hope things go better with your mom this weekend. You're right, this is something we'll all face eventually, but that doesn't make it any easier.
Angie, I don't know what I was thinking. I should have realized that you wouldn't want to run 8 and 3! How about meeting us at 7:45 and we can all run 5?
Now I, too, am going to go self-medicate with some wine:)

  • Cindy, sounds like things with your mom got more complicated after your last text today. I am sorry to hear that. Sounds like Angie's prescription is right on target. Jeri

By Blogger Jeri, At November 30, 2012 at 9:28 PM

  • Jean,
I appreciate your willingness to accomodate me, but I've really gotten comfortable with the idea of sleeping in tomorrow. Drinking has probably helped ;).... in any case, I think I will just stick with my plan and come over at 10 and do 3 miles, I mean, what the hell, it's not like I'm training for anything...haha. You and Jeri have a good, fast run, and I will be having sweet dreams still just about the time you are finishing up. I sure hope I don't oversleep, boy, that would be tragic....Angie
